Centralized Capacity Information Map
The Centralized Capacity Information Map (CCIM) is an online tool developed by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) that provides a high-level, indicative view of electricity distribution system capacity across Ontario.
The CCIM is intended to support early, high-level planning by allowing users to identify areas where electricity capacity may be available for:
- New or expanded customer load (e.g., residential, commercial, industrial), and
- Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), including solar generation, battery storage, and other small-scale energy resources.
Capacity information displayed in the CCIM is based on data submitted by electricity distributors and is updated periodically, at a minimum on a quarterly basis.
Use of the CCIM
The CCIM is provided for preliminary screening purposes only. It is not intended to be used, and must not be relied upon, as a basis for final site selection, investment decisions, or connection approvals.
Use of the CCIM does not:
- Reserve capacity
- Confirm the availability of capacity
- Constitute approval of a connection
- Replace any distributor-led application, engineering review, or Connection Impact Assessment (CIA)
All proposed connections remain subject to formal review, study, and approval by the local electricity distributor in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and distributor policies.
